Inhaca Day
Tour details
You will be picked up from your hotel.
- Excursions must be booked by 15:00 the day before the tour and are subject to availability.
- Excursions are dependent on the weather and may be cancelled by ourselves or one of our sub-contractors. We will endeavour to advise you with as much notice as possible and re-book the tour when feasible.
- Please check with us about payment procedures.
- A voucher for your excursion will be provided once payment has been received.
- If you would like to do the tour during the week, a boat charter can be arranged. Price will depend on the number of people on the tour.
Inhaca Day
Although close to Maputo (but out of sight over the horizon, about 30 km out in the Indian Ocean), Inhaca Island and Portuguese Island are worlds apart from the city. Visting these islands is much like going back in time. You'll find pristing beaches that seem a very long way from civilization.
On our Inhaca Day Tour, we'll take a boat from Maputo harbour to the smaller Portuguese Island where you can breathe in the fresh ocean air and take a morning dip. We then continue to Inhaca Island where you can have a seafood lunch at one of the colourful local resaurants (lunch must be pre-booked).
During the trip to the islands, drinks may be purchased on board. Please note that since you will wade through water on arrival, be sure to wear sandals and shorts. Also remember to pack sunscreen, a hat and a light jacket.
It is possible to arrange an overnight stay at Pestana Inhaca Lodge. Please inquire with us!
Our Inhaca Day tour takes a full day. Boats take between one and two hours to reach Inhaca Island. Most boats stop first at Portuguese Island for the morning, continuing to Inhaca later on.
Participant guidelines
- All excursion timing are a rough indication and should be confirmed the day prior to the excursion taking place.
- For early departures, we recommend that you pre-book a packed breakfast with the hotel to take along on the excursion.
- Please make certain that you take your passport with you on all excursions.
- Please note that if you are not holding a re-entry visa you may experience delay at the border whilst purchasing a new entry visa for Mozambique.
- Visa and border formalities are excluded from the excursion price and are payable direct.
