Craft, Food and Flowers Fair of Maputo

FEIMA

A new meeting place and a new face in the arts of Mozambique. Many have not yet discovered this emblematic leisure space called Craft, Food and Flowers Fair of Maputo. This initiative of Municipal Authorities aims to remove Artisans, Florists and Food vendors from the downtown streets of Maputo  to a place called Parque dos Continuadores where they will sell permanently. As is common understanding that a fixed and  permanent location offers better security than being on the streets. Mozambique boasts many resources, from wood, skin, horns of wild animals including other raw materials.  Artisans with a lot of creativity produce true works of art. The fair is a true labyrinth that extends through the Park as a kind of serpent, unfolding into curves from the entrance which is located on the side of Martires da Machava Avenue, up to the side of Mao Tse Tung Avenue, where the florists are.  Among various handicraft works that resemble itself the wild forest, there are Giraffes, Rhinos, Turtles, Elephants, Birds and other wildlife. The pieces are made of Blackwood, Rosewood, Sandalwood, Jambire, Umbila, Lacata, and other materials, which attract the attention of tourists and local buyers.

While enjoying the beautiful works of art in Batik etc. you can also enjoy the best of national and international cuisine which takes place once a month (month end).

On some of the occasions there are unique moments of acoustic guitars, listening to beautiful poems in one of the many cultural soirees organized by the locals.
